Challenge
Mobile Money agents play a key role in financial inclusion in Africa, facilitating access to financial services for millions of unbanked people. However, their work remains largely manual and fragmented, relying on non-digital tools and multiple interfaces depending on the operator.
This fragmentation hampers their productivity, complicates the day-to-day management of transactions and limits their ability to develop new sources of income. It also reduces the efficiency of Mobile Money networks, particularly in rural and cross-border areas where access to financial services remains limited.
In the absence of integrated and interoperable solutions, agents are unable to take full advantage of the sector’s rapid growth, even though they are a key driver of local economic development.
Innovative solution
GOBI AGENT is a blockchain-based mobile app that fully digitises the operations of Mobile Money agents. It centralises multi-operator transactions on a single platform, eliminates paper records and simplifies day-to-day management.
The solution also offers value-added services such as cross-border transfers, interoperability between operators and real-time analytical tools. These features enable agents to improve their performance and manage their cash flow more effectively. The blockchain technology, meanwhile, guarantees the security, traceability and reliability of transactions.
By boosting agents’ productivity and income, GOBI AGENT helps to build an interconnected network of local financial service providers and expand access to financial services, particularly in rural and border areas.
